Winter Weather Advisory

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR STRONG GUSTY WINDS ALONG WITH MINOR ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW PLUS BLOWING SNOW, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FOR ATHENS COUNTY UNTIL 12 NOON MONDAY, 1/27.

HAZARD TYPES – STRONG WIND GUSTS. ALSO MINOR SNOW ACCUMULATIONS AND BLOWING SNOW

WIND – WEST AND NORTHWEST WITH GUSTS OF 45 TO 50 MPH

SNOW ACCUMULATIONS – AN INCH OR LESS

TIMING – STRONGEST WIND GUSTS MONDAY MORNING INTO MIDDAY

IMPACTS – WIND GUSTS COULD CAUSE MINOR DAMAGE AND POWER OUTAGES

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
STRONG WIND GUSTS COULD CAUSE MINOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE, POWER FLUCTUATIONS OR EVEN OUTAGES AND PERHAPS BLOCKING OF ROADS FROM LOOSE DEBRIS.  CONSTRUCTION SITES ARE VULNERABLE LOCATIONS.  SECURE LIGHT WEIGHT OBJECTS OR BRING THEM INSIDE.
