WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW IN EFFECT FOR ATHENS CO UNTIL 11AM TODAY, USE CAUTION!

Winter Weather Advisory

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FOR ATHENS COUNTY UNTIL 11 AM EST THIS MORNING.

HAZARD TYPES – SNOW.

SNOW ACCUMULATIONS – 1 TO 3 INCHES.

TIMING – SNOW WILL TAPER OFF BETWEEN 10 AND 11 AM.

IMPACTS – BRIDGES, OVERPASSES, SECONDARY AND ESPECIALLY UNTREATED ROADS WILL BE THE MOST LIKELY LOCATIONS FOR SLICK SPOTS. THOSE TRAVELING DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE SHOULD ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH THEIR DESTINATION.

TEMPERATURES – LOW TO MID 20S.

VISIBILITIES – BELOW ONE MILE IN THE HEAVIER SNOW.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
