The Athens Co Sheriff’s Office urges caution for everyone traveling to and from 12 Fest on sat, 4/12!

Athens County Sheriff Rodney Smith wants to inform all participants of 12 Fest scheduled for this Saturday, April 12th to use caution while riding in motor vehicles to and from the event. The Sheriff’s Office and area law enforcement will be heavily patrolling the region and strictly enforcing traffic laws, especially overloaded vehicles.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages all participants to use the bus transportation system offered by 12 Fest promoters located at the Athens County Fairgrounds, on West Union Street. Overnight parking is also being offered at the fairgrounds.

The Sheriff’s Office offers the following transportation tips;

  • Any motor vehicle that has too many occupants and is causing disregard to others in the motor vehicle, may result in the driver being issued a citation.
  • Use caution in paying for a ride to 12 Fest. If you are in a motor vehicle and it is determined the vehicle is overloaded you will not be allowed to continue riding in the vehicle.
  • Any exchange of money for a ride to 12 Fest may be considered a civil matter and not criminal.
