Athens County Area Fire Departments Work Together to Ensure Equipment is Safe for Fighting Fires

2014 FD Pump Testing

Fire departments form around the Athens County area have spent this past week making sure their firefighting equipment is safe and ready to fight fires in emergencies. Every year fire departments are required to have some of their emergency equipment tested and certified that it is in proper working order and safe to use. This past week many area fire departments have brought their fire engines and ladders to Hocking College in Nelsonville for annual pump and ladder testing.

The Nelsonville Fire Department has been hosting this joint testing program since 2002. The testing costs fire departments $150 to have each fire engine pump tested and $2.20 per foot for  ladders to be tested. With the departments working together on the testing the prices are reduced compared to each fire department setting up the testing on their own.
