Just in time for the traveling public this Labor Day Weekend! The Wayne National Forest has launched a new mobile-based tour designed to better connect visitors with National Forest System lands in southeast Ohio.
Approximately 39 sites around the Wayne National Forest now have tour stops that can be viewed with either your desktop computer, or your favorite mobile device. Using special mapping tools, each featured stop has multimedia content in the form of pictures, text, audio and videos. Access the tour today by visiting the Wayne National Forest Mobile Tour or http://myoncell.mobi/tours.php?acct_num=17402492008
Areas highlighted by the mobile tour include a range of sites that include recreation areas like the beautiful Lake Vesuvius Recreation Area in Lawrence County, and our popular designated off-highway vehicle trail systems and historical sites including Payne Cemetery. Many of our hiking, biking and horseback riding trails are also featured.
“Through the use of some of the latest technology, the public now has more access than ever before to the Wayne National Forest. I invite you to share in our excitement by using this new communication tool that’s helping us better connect you to many unique and special places around the Forest. I believe you will be surprised just how much you will discover,” stated Forest Supervisor Anthony Scardina.
To access our tour using your mobile phone, dial 740-249-2008 and follow the prompts. When you enter a specific stop number, you will hear a recorded message for that site.
The Wayne joins two other pilot forests, the Arapaho Roosevelt National Forest in Colorado and the Shawnee National Forest in Illinois, as three U.S. Forest Service pilot locations using the new mobile platform. To learn more about the tour, please feel free to stop by any of the Forest’s three offices located in Nelsonville, Pedro, and Marietta.
