Freezing Rain Advisory

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY FOR ATHENS COUNTY WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT UNTIL 9 AM TUESDAY 12/2.

HAZARD TYPES – FREEZING RAIN.

ICE ACCUMULATIONS – A TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE IS POSSIBLE.

TIMING – BEGINNING AROUND MIDNIGHT TO 2 AM.

IMPACTS – ICE COULD FORM ON SIDEWALKS AND ROADS, ESPECIALLY BRIDGES, MAKING THEM SLICK.

TEMPERATURES – IN THE UPPER 20S AND LOWER 30S.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN OR FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS. SLOW DOWN AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
