WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR ATHENS CO UNTIL 7PM SAT 2/14, GUSTS 40 TO 50 MPH POSSIBLE, WATCH FOR CHANGING CONDITIONS

Wind AdvisoryTHE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY FOR ATHENS COUNTY WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM SATURDAY, 2/14.

WINDS – WEST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS 40 TO 50 MPH.

TIMING – GENERALLY 3 PM TO 6 PM AND MAINLY AS THE ARCTIC FRONT CROSSES.

IMPACTS – STRONG WIND GUSTS COULD CAUSE DOWNED LIMBS, POWER OUTAGES AND DEBRIS ON ROADS. MOTORISTS MAY ENCOUNTER STRONG CROSS WINDS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT WINDS OF 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED OR GUSTS GREATER THAN 45 MPH. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT, ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.
