Flash Flood Warning

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR ATHENS COUNTY UNTIL 1015 PM SATURDAY, 6/20.

AT 414 PM, DOPPLER RADAR AND AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES INDICATED HEAVY RAIN FALLING ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. UP TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN HAVE ALREADY FALLEN. FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED AS MORE HEAVY DOWNPOURS MOVE ACROSS THE WARNED AREA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND NOW. ACT QUICKLY TO PROTECT YOUR LIFE.

TURN AROUND, DONT DROWN WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED ROADS. MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN VEHICLES.
