Flash Flood Warning

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR ATHENS COUNTY UNTIL 545AM.

AT 247AM DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A THUNDERSTORM PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN ACROSS THE WARNED AREA.  UP TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN HAVE ALREADY FALLEN. FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN SHORTLY.

SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE ATHENS, NELSONVILLE, GLOUSTER, COOLVILLE, CHAUNCEY, BUCHTEL, JACKSONVILLE, TRIMBLE, AMESVILLE, STROUD RUN STATE PARK, BURR OAK STATE PARK AND THE PLAINS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND NOW. ACT QUICKLY TO PROTECT YOUR LIFE.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODING.
