SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR ATHENS CO UNTIL 415PM, SEEK SHELTER!

Severe Thunderstorm Warning

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR ATHENS COUNTY UNTIL 415 PM.

AT 321 PM DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THESE STORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM 7 MILES WEST OF LOGAN TO 8 MILES EAST OF KINGSTON AND MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 35 MPH.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE NEAR NELSONVILLE AND BUCHTEL AROUND 355 PM, ATHENS AROUND 410 PM AND ALBANY AROUND 415 PM.

OTHER LOCATIONS IMPACTED BY THESE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS INCLUDE STROUD RUN STATE PARK, CHAUNCEY AND TRIMBLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WINDS, DEADLY LIGHTNING AND VERY HEAVY RAIN. FOR YOUR PROTECTION, MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS. HEAVY RAINS FLOOD ROADS QUICKLY SO DO NOT DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.
