Winter Weather AdvisoryTHE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW FOR ATHENS COUNTY, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TUESDAY, JANUARY 12TH TO 4 AM WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13TH.

  • HAZARD TYPES – SNOW.
  • SNOW ACCUMULATIONS – 1 TO 3 INCHES.
  • TIMING – 1AM TUE, 1/12 TO 4AM WED, 1/13
  • WINDS – WEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.
  • TEMPERATURES – FALLING INTO THE LOWER 20S WITH WIND CHILLS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:

AN ALBERTA CLIPPER DROPPING INTO THE GREAT LAKES WILL BRING THE FIRST ACCUMULATING SNOW OF THE SEASON FOR MANY LOCATIONS.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
