Winter storm watch

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH FOR ATHENS COUNTY, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10AM FRIDAY 1/22 THROUGH 4PM SATURDAY 1/23.

  • HAZARD – HEAVY SNOW.
  • SNOW ACCUMULATIONS – POTENTIAL OF 4 TO 8 INCHES.
  • TIMING – STARTING MIDDAY FRIDAY. 
  • WINDS – GUSTS NEAR 25 MPH. 
  • IMPACTS – TRAVEL SEVERELY IMPACTED 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. IF POSSIBLE, CHANGE YOUR TRAVEL PLANS TO AVOID EXTENSIVE DRIVING DURING THIS PERIOD.
 

MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS TO BE AWARE IF THIS WINTER STORM WATCH BECOMES A WINTER STORM WARNING.
