Winter Weather Advisory

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW FOR ATHENS COUNTY WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING MONDAY, 2/8 TO 7 AM WEDNESDAY 2/11.

  • HAZARD TYPES – SNOW.
  • SNOW ACCUMULATIONS – SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 2 TO 6 INCHES OVER A 36 HOUR PERIOD. SOME SETTLING AND MELTING OF FALLEN SNOW IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR DURING THE ADVISORY PERIOD.
  • TIMING – SNOW WILL BE AROUND FOR MOST OF THE WEEK WITH VARYING INTENSITY.
  • IMPACTS – TRAVEL MAY BE DIFFICULT AT TIMES. VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
