Athens, Ohio, Missing Kayaker’s Body Recovered from the Hocking River Tuesday Morning 7/11/17


At approximately 6:40AM, Tuesday, July 11th the body of 40 year old missing kayaker, Steve Lippson, from Racine, Ohio was discovered by an O’bleness Memorial Hospital employee in the Hocking River. Mr. Lippson’s body was recovered at 7:30AM by the Athens Fire Department, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Athens Police Department, and the Athens County Coroner’s Office.

Mr. Lippson had been missing since approximately 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 8th following a kayaking accident on the Hocking River near White’s Mill Dam. The Athens Fire Department and all agencies involved in this incident would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Lippson for the loss of their loved one.
