Athens, Ohio – Emergency responders search for missing male in late 20’sin Hocking River near Whites Mill water fall

The Athens Fire Department was alerted at approximately 8:00 PM, Saturday June 23, 2018 for a male in the Hocking River near the Whites Mill water fall at 2 Whites Mill Drive in the City of Athens.  Emergency responders discovered that a white male in his late 20s had jumped into the river upstream from the Whites Mill and was swept down river.  First responders could not find any sign of the missing individual and launched rescue boats to search for the missing person.

Currently the unknown white male is still missing.  The Athens Fire Department has started a search operation for the missing person and is being aided by multiple regional emergency agencies in the operation.  Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
