Flood Watch

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Flood Watch for Athens County from 1PM Saturday, 1/19/19 until 4AM Sunday, 1/20/19.

Rain will overspread the area Saturday and continue into the overnight hours. Rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches are forecast. Ground conditions are wet, and most of this rain is expected to runoff into streams, creeks and rivers. This will cause strong rises and possible flooding conditions throughout the watch area.

Flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas, and roads along streams, creeks and rivers is possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
