Athens Co Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams until 315AM Wed, 2/13/19, seek shelter if threatened

Flood Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in Athens County until 315 AM Wednesday, 2/13/2019.

At 612 PM EST, heavy rainfall was continuing to occur across the warned area. Area creeks and streams are currently either bankfull, or have minor flooding starting to occur. Rain is starting to slowly taper off across the area, however, creeks and streams will continue to rise over the next several hours, leading to localized flooding.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Athens, Nelsonville, and Glouster.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

Please report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.

You may also report flooding by posting your report to the Charleston West Virginia National Weather Service Facebook Page, or by using the Twitter Hashtag, NWSRLX.
