Enhanced Risk for Severe Weather Today 6/24/2019

Timing and Overview:
A risk of severe weather will exist area-wide later today.

  • A broken line of storms is expected to develop across Kentucky and southern Ohio this afternoon.
  • Some of these storms may become severe as the line moves east across nearly the entire region.
  • Additional isolated strong storms may also develop ahead of the main line, especially across SE OH, far NE KY, and western WV.
  • The best time frame for severe weather will be from roughly mid afternoon through mid evening.

Today’s Severe Weather Threats:

Winds:  Locally damaging wind gusts around 60 mph.

Hail:  Small hail possible with isolated 1″ hail.

Rainfall:  Strongest storms may product a quick 1/2 to 1 inch of rain. Isolated high water impacts possible.

Tornadoes:  Low threat confined along the Ohio River Valley.
