This article shares insights from pioneering user-centred research into laundry behaviours in Brazil, India and the UK. It draws on in-context interviews, observations, household tours and a laundry diary to understand how laundry is performed and the challenges and opportunities for influencing sustainable laundry behaviours. The findings suggest seven guidelines for designing household products that encourage sustainable behaviours during use.
