There have been a number of times in the past when the IRS has sent out stimulus check 2023 to American households. This usually happens because of some type of special circumstance, such as a pandemic or other one-time event. The most common of these types of stimulus checks is the Tax Child Credit. Millions of families qualify for this check, and many don’t know it. In addition, the information about the check isn’t widely publicized.
Will Americans get another stimulus check in 2023?
In the past, Congress has passed three bills that included stimulus payments, formally known as Economic Impact Payments, for millions of Americans. These payments are worth up to $1,400 per eligible household and include both spouses with a Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number and qualifying dependents. However, as of now, there are no plans to send a fourth payment in 2023. The IRS and Department of the Treasury websites make no mention of a fourth check, and congressional and presidential budgets for 2023 don’t include such a payment.
In the meantime, a few states have continued to issue state rebate payments, sometimes called stimulus checks, for homeowners and renters. These payments are meant to offset rising inflation and help households cope with higher property taxes and skyrocketing food and gas prices. Montana, New Mexico, and Arizona are among the states that have been sending out these checks because they had surpluses in their state budgets in 2020 and 2021 from billions of dollars in federal pandemic relief money.
